100 Dreams

From children around the world

A lot of children of my age see the future with flying cars, but they don’t see the negative effect. Only rare children think about that. If the flying cars leave the black gas, that will leave trees to die. We have to think about the world before making new things.

I was thinking people should start to learn to grow more of their food. Some people may think that’s going backward. But we’re actually also moving forward because we’re learning to take care of ourselves.

I’d like to somehow leave my mark on the world. It takes a lot of effort and work, but if I set a goal maybe I can.

Technology alone won’t make us happy. Life without art has no meaning. If life were boring and your work meaningless, what would be the meaning of your life?

One day I think we will live underground with tunnels from room to room. On the surface there could be only renewable energy devices. You could come up to enjoy nature or just to have some fun. Without nature, I couldn’t imagine a life. I worry about how we treat the Earth and nuclear power.

The first heart transplant was in Cape Town. It makes me feel very proud of my country. I think most innovation usually comes from overseas.  But I hope in the future there is going to be great ideas coming from Africa.

I want to be an architect and I dream that in the future I can make a lot of strange buildings. The buildings would be intelligent. If something bad is happening, it changes. So if a tsunami comes, there are two poles inside that will become the legs and just fly up high and everyone can live.

Every good idea started out as a new idea. We never knew about the light bulb until it was invented. Even trying strawberries with pretzels, like that’s a new idea.

Some day our buildings will be green. The insides will still be cement and steel, but the outside will be covered in dirt so we can plant seeds. Maybe some day, instead of constructing our buildings, we’ll grow them. That will be really great.

I don’t think that I can change the future alone, I’ll need help. Like when you climb a mountain, you need a second person who secures you. When you climb Mount Everest, you need a helper, you need to be able to communicate. The future can be changed, but only if we work together.
